Erling Haaland may have given away a major piece of information regarding where he will play football next season.
After exploding onto the scene with RB Salzburg and subsequently Dortmund, the Norwegian has established himself as one of the most lethal forwards in European sport.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United have all been connected with the player in the last year.
Haaland is now on vacation in Marbella, with German football on hiatus for the winter. According to AS, Haaland was approached by a group of fans in Marbella, and when asked where he will play football next season, he reportedly said, "Here, in Spain."
Naturally, this allegation should be taken with a grain of salt, but Haaland may be speaking the truth, which raises one question.
Will Haaland sign a contract with Barcelona or Real Madrid?
Barcelona are now in dire financial straits, despite the recent signing of Ferran Torres, and it appears unlikely that they will compete for Haaland with Real Madrid or Premier League clubs.
The most likely destination appears to be Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe remains Real Madrid's top target, but as FootballTransfers has reported, chairman Florentino Perez is keen to pair the Frenchman with Haaland as part of a new Galactico line-up. Los Blancos are undergoing renovations to their famed Santiago Bernabeu stadium, with the new state-of-the-art edifice expected to open in the first half of 2023.
Perez also wants to have the world's best footballers play for Madrid to commemorate the club's new home.
Perez's 'Jewels in the Crown' strategy is to get the two young superstars to wear the same white Madrid jersey. Dortmund are hesitant to surrender their finest asset, but it is commonly assumed that he would leave shortly in order to compete for league crowns and the Champions League.
Dortmund was eliminated from the Champions League in the group round this season and will now compete in the Europa League.
